Pastor Malachi is leading us in an interactive Parenthood class on Sunday mornings between September 12th & October 10th. This class aims to help us continue to think about how we can raise our children in a gospel-centered way and then spend a little time talking through issues with other parents (and future parents!)

One highly-recommended parenting book is Paul Tripp's Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family.

Tripp writes that "nothing is more important in your life than being one of God's tools to form a human soul." Parenthood is a huge responsibility. It can be overwhelming. But we don't have to parent alone. We have the benefit of fellow brothers and sisters in the church that can help. We have decades of collective years of parenting in the local church. The experience and wisdom of other parents are one of the many graces God supplies us with.

The book is filled with helpful reminders for Christian parents. We are aiming for heart change and not just behavior modification. We cannot change our children with our own power and might--only Jesus can. Our own identity must be firmly rooted in Christ and not in our kids.
