About Pastoral Internships at Trinity Bible Church
We love the church because God does. He created and sustains the church by his very Word. The Bible reveals local churches as God’s chief instrument for displaying His glory and inviting lost sinners to turn to an eternal life of delighting in and glorifying Him. Churches need gospel-centered pastors who love the church. We're convicted that part of our mission of Taking Jesus Further includes reproducing pastors who love the church.
Loving the church is hard work. In fact, it’s impossible for sinners to love other sinners without God’s resources. But in Christ the very affection of Christ Jesus empowers us through the Holy Spirit to love others as God has first loved us.
The purpose of our internship program is not to build and staff ministries within our own church. We desire to be a place where future pastors and church leaders who feel an inward call to ministry can observe and get involved in local church life while carefully studying what the Scriptures and theologians have to say about how a healthy biblical church should look and how a shepherd ought to serve.
Trinity Bible Church originally began meeting on the northern edge of Phoenix in 1968 at Saguaro Elementary School before landing at 35th and Peoria in 1971. The city has grown far beyond us now, leaving us in an urban context that flavors the nature of how we do ministry and the unpredictable challenges we regularly face. Amidst this context, we seek to teach interns to increasingly place their confidence in God’s all-sufficient Word and the priority of the local church in God’s redemptive purposes for Phoenix and beyond.
Interns can expect to gain practical knowledge of the role of God’s Word in preaching and teaching, a biblical view of church membership, and a careful look at a covenanted congregational community.
Interns accepted into the program are expected to join the church, having signed our statements of faith and fellowship. Internships last from August to May. We cannot promise acceptance into or completion of the program implies our affirmation of your internal call, and employment at TBC should not be expected.
Pastoral Residency
Single men are offered free housing. See resident expectations and policy.
