Look at these two Bible verses with me. Luke 1:41 says “And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb” Again Psalm 139:13 reads “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” Here we see that God’s word tells us that the unborn is a unique person.
Also, leading embryology books[1] argue that the unborn are distinct, living, human beings from the earliest stages of development, and neither the size nor level of development of the unborn means that they should be terminated. There’s a cultural pushback to truths like this.
But as a church we are called to be a pillar and buttress of the truth; to declare the excellencies of him who called us out of darkness into the marvelous light. We are called to participate in God’s plan to glorify himself as we declare his word to everyone and everywhere. As we love and care and support those who can’t defend themselves.
That’s one of the reasons TBC has supported Choices Pregnancy Center over the years. Many walk through their doors due to an unplanned pregnancy. Rather than "offering abortion services, they provide a safe place to talk, explore options, seek medical services, learn about available resources and hear about the hope available to all of us for a better life".[2]
We are excited to announce our “Bridges Initiative” partnership with Choices Pregnancy Center. The Bridges Initiative is a Choices program designed to integrate their clients into our Christ-centered community. In other words, our church is forming a closer partnership with Choices Pregnancy Center.
We are forming this partnership because we desire to display the glory of God. We do this through our actions as we love those who are at a crossroads in their lives due to an unplanned pregnancy. We want to reflect God’s love for the unborn and their families in our care and support as we seek to make disciples.
We are putting together a team to love and support these families. Members of this team play a vital part in our calling to love and make disciples. Choices will help connect people from their center with our members for mentorship, support, and discipleship. You can make a difference in someone’s life by walking life with them, offering support, and loving them. We are looking for both men and women volunteers.
There will be a five-week training starting on Tuesday, January 10th at 6:30 pm. We will get equipped for this important opportunity to display and love these families.
If you are interested please talk with Ryan Fields. We would love to have you on the team.
Blessings this Christmas season.
